Opera:
Sinead D’Abreu-Hayling is a Manchester-based lyric soprano currently in the second year of a Master of Music degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she studies with Andrew Heggie under the support of the Valerie Horner Award. She completed her Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s (Wales Academy of Voice and Dramatic Arts) with tutor Camilla Roberts. Her Operatic engagements include Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito and Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflote with the Croatian Opera Academy. She also originated the role of Mayuri in the contemporary opera Prayer of a Peacock by Dang and Gogna, as well as Dr Livesey in Treasure Island a Children’s Opera at the Royal Northern College of Music. Sinead is currently preparing to originate the leading role of Mira in a new community opera commissioned by the Royal Northern College of Music to be premiered in summer 2026. Whilst being a student at the Royal Northern College of Music Sinead has performed in three Opera Scenes: Lucilia in Il Burbero di Buon Cuore (Soler), Gasparina in La Canterina (Haydn) and Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflote (Mozart). She has also appeared as a finalist in the Williams Howard Competition and sang in student spotlights. Sinead loves collaborative work and takes great pride in working with others. She has been a chorus mentor for Birmingham Opera Company on two separate occasions; for Michael Tippets “New Year” and Judith Weir’s “Woman Life Song” as well as chorus for “The Shoemaker” by Javadi et al at Welsh National Opera. Alongside her operatic work, Sinead is an active recitalist and concert performer. Having performed at many church lunchtime recitals, performed at the Black Sound Gala for the MOBO Fringe Festival, sang a solo in Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Halle and performed at the Black Creative Trailblazers at Factory International to name but a few.
Musical Theatre:
Sinead made her West End Debut in 2021 at the Charing Cross Theatre at the Grand finals of West End Calling. Getting critical industry advice from Natalie May Paris and Cleve September to name a few. Sinead was also in the Grand Finals of Open Mic UK 2017, she's played the role of Lady of the Lake in Spamalot in 2021 and Marty in Grease in 2022 in 24hr musicals as part of the Audlem Theatre Company. Sinead has 6 LCM distinctions including grade 8 and has conducted her own church choir for christmas events.
Jazz:
Sinead's interest in Jazz arose during the first covid lockdown, when she was unable to attend the yearly nantwich jazz festival, so decided to make her own digital jazz series for her friends and family to watch. She has sung jazz alongside her other main genres for birthday and christening events.
